How to connect a midi keyboard to my computer and use it with fl studio?

I have a Yamaha Keyboard and the midi to usb cable and everything is connected properly. When I plug it in, my computer recognizes it. When I bring up FL Studio and go to change the midi preferences, under input it says “creative sound blaster” and not my keyboard. I hit rescan and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to disable/change this so my keyboard name is there instead.

It will recognize the Midi Cable not the keyboard necessarily. In your software preferences, there should be input / output settings. That’s where you tell the software which connection to use and how the midi data is coming thru. I use a EWI and Kontakt and Logic. In both cases, the Uno USB cable shows up as the source.

Another key thing to remember is that you should use a USB connectors in the back of the computer. The front one’s may not work for this. Some devices require more power then the front ones or a hub can provide.
